  22. That's because he was using VI.  VI is extremely slow to load large
  23. files due to the way it stores them internally.  (I just tried a test
  24. here on my workstation; emacs was about 14X faster than VI at loading a
  25. 1.4 Mb text file.  VI took 2.8 seconds, emacs took 0.2 seconds).

  27. Or, you could just use "more" or "grep" and not even load the file into
  28. memory.
